Affordable Talk

Offers short and long-term low cost counselling, CBT and psychotherapy to individuals and couples, with options for qualified or trainee counsellors. Affordable Talk are based in South Wales, but are offering online and telephone sessions during COVID-19.

Ara Gambling Service

Ara Gambling Service provides 1:1 counselling for people experiencing problems with their own gambling or that of a family member. This service is available for people aged 18+ living in Bristol, Wales and South West England.

Bath Mind

Bath Mind offer a range of services and support to people living in Bath and North East Somerset, including befriending, counselling, community groups, a crisis helpline, and practical support.

Please note that these services are only available in Bath and North East Somerset, and Bristol Mind is a separate organisation offering different services.

Hawkspring

Hawkspring works to support people who have been negatively affected by drug and/or alcohol abuse. Their holistic approach works to support recovery, and carers, family, and children affected by someone else’s drug/alcohol use.

Kinergy

Kinergy is a specialist counselling agency offering support to anyone aged 18 and above of any gender in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset or BANES who has experiences sexual abuse or violence.

Meeting Minds

Meeting Minds is Bristol Mind’s low-cost counselling service, offering up to 16 weeks of affordable counselling to individuals with mild to moderate mental health struggles.

Mothers for Mothers

Mothers for Mothers offer a range of perinatal mental health support services. Most of their services, including helplines, one-to-one sessions, and counselling, are directed at mothers, but monthly support sessions are also available for fathers.

Network Counselling

Network Counselling offers affordable counselling in a welcoming, safe and confidential space where people can be listened to, accepted and understood. The service is for adults aged 18+.

NHS Talking Therapies

Nilaari

Nilaari are a BAME-led charity offering culturally appropriate and sensitive support, including talking therapies, direct support, and support groups. Specific projects target women generally, BAME migrant women specifically, and men with complex needs, including those with a history of offending.

Pink Therapy

Pink Therapy is an online directory of LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapists. Search “Avon” to see therapists in the local area. Please note that this is a directory of private therapists and Bristol Mind does not endorse any individual private therapist.

Safeline

Safeline provide support to survivors of sexual assault and rape. Online counselling is available, and there is a dedicated helpline for male survivors.

SurvivorsUK

SurvivorsUK provide a national online helpline, individual and group counselling for boys, men, and non-binary people aged 13+ who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives. They also offer emotional support to men going through the justice system in relation to experiencing sexual violence.

SWEDA

SWEDA offer a range of services for people with eating disorders across Somerset and the surrounding areas, including counselling and support groups.

The Green House

The Green House offers a range of evidence-based individual therapies (12 to 24 sessions) to children and young people up to the age of 18 who have experienced sexual abuse, living in Bristol, Bath and North Somerset, North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire. All therapies can be accessed pre-trial – i.e., when a report has been made to the police and the criminal case is ongoing. Therapy Services are available at their centre in St Paul’s, Knowle West Health Park and online.

The Harbour

Free counselling /psychotherapy for adults who are facing dying or bereavement, or who have been bereaved in the past two years. For individuals or couples. Group therapy available.

Wellspring Counselling

Wellspring offers confidential help and support to residents of North Somerset who are experiencing loss and bereavement, relationship difficulties, stress and anxiety, depression or emotional abuse. Services are available for children and young people (aged 11 – 18) and adults (18+).

Womankind

Womankind supports women in the Bristol area with professional counselling, group psychotherapy, befriending and a helpline service.
