This live online 2.5 hour workshop will increase your confidence in engaging with individuals who have thoughts of suicide, whether at work, while volunteering, or in your personal life.
About the workshop:
This is a community based suicide intervention skills training. The course aims to increase community alertness to suicide risk and confidence in engaging with a person having thoughts of suicide. It is suitable for anyone who may meet someone who is at risk either through their work or volunteering roles or in their personal lives.
Drawing on evidence based suicide intervention strategies, this course provides space to talk about suicide and develop suicide safe responses. Consider suicide risk factors, learn about suicide intervention skills and how they can be applied, and identify approaches and resources to support individuals to make plans to stay safe.
Workshop objectives:

Increase confidence in engaging with individuals about suicide

Consider suicide risk and how to respond, drawing on evidence-based suicide first response strategies

Teach evidence-based intervention skills, including development of individual plans to stay safe

Recognise the importance of self-care when supporting a person who has thoughts of suicide.
