A Half a Month (update #1)

We reported last month that one of our supporters, Dan Spencer, was taking on an incredible fundraising challenge this year – running a half marathon in every month of 2019 – to raise money for Bristol Mind, and we’re back to give you an update of his progress.

We are extremely pleased to report that Dan completed the Gloucester Half Marathon on Sunday 20 January 2019 and in the process managed to bag himself a Personal Best time of 1:24:04 !

Dan made the decision to take on this enormous challenge following his own difficulties with mental health and decided to do something to raise awareness and reduce stigma:

“For the last 8 years I have found myself at various points in my life battling depression and anxiety, never quite understanding how I was truly feeling until early this year. For me it was very much an issue I tried to sweep under the carpet by dismissing it…”

Dan’s next races are going to be the Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 24 February, the Merthyr Tydfil Half Marathon on Sunday 24 March and then he’s going to the Spanish capital to undertake the Madrid Half Marathon on Sunday 7 April.
