This week the Memorial Stadium hosted an event entitled ‘Feeling Blue? And White’ organised by Bristol Rovers Community Trust. The event was to promote personal wellbeing and to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health.
The evening had guest speakers including former players, Lee Mansell and Ryan Clarke, as well as current first team players, Stuart Sinclair and Kyle Bennett. They were joined by mental health professionals to take part in a panel discussion to discuss the highs and lows of their careers and how these have affected their mental health.
The ground-breaking event was a massive success with over 160 people attending an ended with a quiz involving alternate questions about Football and Mental Health followed by a short video showcasing the ‘Recovery Through Sport’ group which is a partnership between the Trust and NHS.
